Why is Owens on the decline?

So why has Terrell Owens endured such a bad season? It’s like asking the question of the chicken or the egg? Is it the Bills offense or Terrell Owens? Yahoo Sports had an article on Owens skills diminishing and painted Owens as an over the hill diva.

Look, do I think Owens skills are on the decline? Yes. But I think at least 75% of it has to do with the shotty QB play he’s endured and the Pop Warner type offensive game plan he’s following. The stats don’t lie. Owens is coming off a decent 1000 yard season with 10 td’s, and remember he did all that with Brad Johnson as his QB for 3 games.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a T.O. guy. I think he’s only interested in himself and is more interested in being a reality TV star than the Balloon Boy’s dad. But if you think it’s all on Owens for his decline, just look at the overall offense.

Lee Evans is on pace to catch less than 50 balls this season, the offensive line is on pace to give up 60 sacks, and a first year coordinator is calling the plays. Hell, who exactly is the MVP of this sorry bunch? Jason Peters for deciding he wanted more money? Maybe Turk Schonert for getting himself fired from this mess?

And I haven’t even talked about Dick Jauron yet. There’s just way too many factors in saying Terrell Owens is finished. The Yahoo article used Marvin Harrison as an example of wides over 35 who suddenly declined. They should of mention most of Harrison’s decline was due to injury. For every wide receiever you name who has declined after 35, I could mention Jerry Rice making pro bowls at the age of 39.

I still think in the right situation and QB play, Owens can still be successful. Unfortunately, it more than likely won’t be in a Bills uniform.
