Where the hell do I even begin?
-The Jets have run for 840 yards in their last 3 games against the Bills. I mean, that’s like 300 yards a fricken game?! It doesn’t matter if it’s Thomas Jones or the Bills are running the 3-4 or the 4-3 defense, the Jets have guys upfront that know how to open up holes for their running backs. People kept asking on Twitter, “Why would the Chargers release LT?” I got news for you, anyone can run behind that offensive line. You could put one of Antonio Cromartie’s kids back there and they could run for 100 yards. When you have studs like Mangold and Ferguson back there, you can pretty much put a sock in the whole believing that the quarterback makes the offensive line better. Those guys upfront are beasts and have pushed around the Bills for three straight games. That’s what happens when you actually invest money in your offensive line (Jason Peters, anyone?)-
-Okay, I’m not a football coach and I never try to pass myself as one, but if you are going to run a ton of play action passes or bootlegs, you better have the running game working on all cylinders. Running the football is what makes play action passing work and when you rush the football only 9 times, you are just ignoring basic football 101. The Jets didn’t respect the Bills running game and whenever Fitzpatrick tried to bootleg to the right or left, the guy was running for his life. The Jets didn’t respect the Bills running game and because of that, they just rushed all out to the point of attack. Not to mention, it doesn’t make sense to run play action when you’re facing a team that lives and dies by the blitz. The Jets don’t believe in reading and reacting, they believe in pressure at all times. You want to know why the Jets were great at play action today? Because they moved the ball via the run and the Bills had to respect it-
-On a sidenote: I said during the preseason that the only way the Bills had a shot at being competitive during the season is if they ran the football effectively. Say what you will, but all three of these running backs can play. I wanted the Bills to be a smash mouth football team that resembled something along the lines at what the Giants had in 2007 and 2008. Just run the damn football because your line can’t pass protect and your quarterback can’t throw the football to save his life! It’s inexcusable for the Bills to only hand the ball off 9 times today?! The Jets were banged up in the front seven with Kris Jenkins and Calvin Pace being sidelined by injury, and how do the Bills exploit it? Lets drop back to pass 34 times against a team that’s known to kill the quarterback. Sorry, but the Bills need to get back to basics and hand the ball off to their talented trio of running backs. Run wildcat, run the wishbone, run the wildbone, run the fullback, just run the damn football!!-
-I’m sorry, but I’ve had it with Lee Evans. I’ve made my points perfectly clear about why Evans shouldn’t get a pass on a yearly basis with his performance. Today, he stunk; dropping two passes in the 4th quarter and getting his lone catch with less than a minute remaining in the game. I said it at the close of last year, the Bills should look into trading Evans. This isn’t really so much about Lee Evans having less yardage on the season than what T.O. had today against the Browns. Its about the Bills using the 40-million dollars that Evans got and investing the money somewhere else on the football team. Invest in a pass rusher. Invest in a linebacker. Invest in a damn offensive lineman not named Cornell Green! The Bills have always been careful with the way they use their money on different parts of this team. Hell, if Aaron Schobel didn’t retire and void the last years of his contract, I wonder if the Bills would have given Kelsay his 24-million dollar extension. Evans’ lucrative contract hurts the Bills from making other moves on this team. Not to mention, by the time the Bills get better (Which may be in 2020), Evans will more than likely be done with his current contract and be in his early 30’s. You can probably get a 2nd and 4th round pick for him. It’s just a waste of money at this point, so, why not try and reinvest the money-
-Look, I kind of feel bad to go after Donte Whitner for crying for the 2nd time in a year at his locker. He may really be the only Bills player to actually give a crap about losing, but he still stinks. He can’t cover a lick. He can’t defend the run and when he tries to defend the run, he takes some god awful angles in trying to make plays. His miss tackle against LT on his 2nd touchdown run of the day was just terrible. He looks like a legit safety with his build, but he can’t do anything right. But, hey, no worries, because the way the Bills give out contract extensions, Whitner will get a 10-year deal by November-
-On a sidenote: How bad is Dan Dierdorf? “Donte Whitner is one of the best tackling safties in the league”. HUH?! Does CBS Sports not make their color analysts watch any game film of the teams that they are about to announce for? Awful!-
-Look, I know I’ve been a little nicer towards the treatment of Aaron Maybin, but why on earth can’t the guy get on the field? Better yet, why was Alex Carrington not dressed for the first three games of the year? If that doesn’t make you wonder, why the hell is John McCargo not suited up after Marcus Stroud was sitting out because of an injury. The Bills aren’t going anywhere this year and it makes no sense to have guys named Torbor and Ayodele playing. Why not get guys like Carrington, Troup and Maybin into the lineup? People want to keep yelling about Maybin being a bust, yet, the guy plays five snaps a game. I’m sorry, but I don’t care if he can’t play well against the run. Hell, no one on this team plays well when trying to stop the run. However, this season should be about getting younger guys on the field as much as possible. You are rebuilding and you can’t rebuild a franchise by having Torbor or Ayodele starting. Give these kids a chance and see if they can sink or swim-
-Hey, at least Ryan Fitzpatrick has 7 touchdowns in the last three games he’s started. However, in his last three games against the Jets, Fitzpatrick has completed only 31 of 75 passes for 342 yards. I don’t even know what the quarterback rating is for that, but I can add up that he’s averaged just 113 yards passing and has completion percentage of 37%. That’s not good, people-
-I still can’t believe that both LT and Shonn Greene had over a 100 yards rushing. Something tells me that if the Jets didn’t decide to put the game in their running backs’ hands, Mark Sanchez would have passed for 300 yards. At this point, the opposition can do whatever they want with the Bills defense-
-When the Bills drafted Spiller, my idea for them was to either: A) Make him the feature back or split carries with Lynch or Jackson. B) Make him into an all-purpose back like the Saints did with Reggie Bush during his rookie year. Well, the Bills have done none of that. Three offensive touches for just 15 yards? I’m sorry, but this is your 1st round draft pick. Not some guy you drafted in the 6th round. If you aren’t going to hand the ball off to him, then run 4-5 screen plays for him. Hell, the damn Eagles made a living on giving Brian Westbrook the football on bubble screens! Why can’t we do that? Again, wasn’t Gailey suppose to be this offensive genius in utilizing the talent around him?-
-I just read that a bunch of the Bills defensive lineman talked trash this week about the Jets. I’m sorry, but I don’t remember anyone saying a damn thing this week. Did the Bills D-line send Rex Ryan Slim Fast or Deal-a-Meal Cards? Maybe the 4th string lineman on the Bills has a twitter page that we don’t know about and he’s been running his mouth. Anyways, the Bills haven’t talked trash to anyone since Thurman Thomas told the Miami Dolphins to go F#$k themselves-
