It is week 2 and time to scout the enemy. We are joined by Joel Thorman from Arrowhead Pride to discuss Bills/Chiefs. How do they feel about Matt Cassel? How has Jaamal Charles looked? How should the Bills attack the Chiefs' defense? All that and more. Enjoy.
1) If you were the Bills offensive and defensive coordinator, how would you attack the Chiefs? Depends if Brandon Flowers plays or not. If he doesn't, then attacking his backup Jacques Reeves is the answer here. The Chiefs are stout against the run so developing a connection with the receivers would be your best bet.
2) We kind of have something in common with the QB position. Buyers remorse? Fitzpatrick has struggled mightily over the last 10 games. We paid him 60-million bucks and the investment so far has been pretty bad. How do you guys feel about Cassel? Probably not as bad as Fitzpatrick. I think Cassel is a better QB, but that's debatable and neither are franchise QBS so I suppose it doesn't really matter. It's frustrating when you don't feel your team has the long-term answer at quarterback. Nothing against Cassel personally — I just wish he consistently completed over 60 percent of his passes and had better command of his deep ball. From a mental and make-up standpoint, Cassel's the type of QB you want.
3) How has Jamaal Charles looked for you guys? You guys seem to have a surplus of running backs. He's baaaack! Charles looks fine. The Chiefs started to feel a lot better about him midway through the preseason when he made some Charles-like cuts. He looks 100 percent and with 16 carries last week the Chiefs aren't holding him back. Watch him back some cuts here.
4)Someone had sent me a link to your site last year in which your fans were livid about the Eric Berry injury and the hand that Stevie Johnson had in it. Have you guys been circling this game on your calendar? No not really, not for that reason. It'll be a thing this week because that's what the media talks about but we've had a year to think about it. Put yourself in our shoes — your star play is hurt in his second season on what is, at first glance, an unnecessary (yet legal) block away from the play. Several competing feelings there, one of which is anger. But we're kinda over it now.
5)How do you guys feel about Romeo Crennel? What makes him different from Todd Haley? Stability. He seems more stable. Romeo seems to tell the truth. I believe what he says. With Haley it always seemed it was a mind game. Crennel is straight-forward and he's had success in the league (…as a coordinator).
6)What Chiefs player should Bills fans keep an eye on? Dexter McCluster. He led the team in receptions last week and could do the same this week.
7) Prediction? 27-23, Chiefs.
