What a mess this game is to dissect.
The bye couldn’t come at a better time for the Bills, but for the fans? I don’t think so. There are so many issues with this team and we are going to spend the next 14 days yelling about it. Backup QBS…playcalling..the refs…turnovers…not forcing turnovers…penalties..Rex Ryan’s methods…defense on the final drive. Pick a fucking sin and the result leads to just a pile of dogshit. No matter how crazy and shocking they become, bad teams always make mistakes. We should know this by now since we are on year 16 of this crap.
Amazingly, I still don’t want to put the final nail in the coffin with this squad because injuries have decimated the offense. Still, you were facing the 30th ranked offense and defense. You should be able to beat them. I don’t want to hear about Rex’s “They battled” narrative. Fuck that. Its the Jacksonville Jaguars. Win the fucking battle against an NFL 3rd world country team. It’s just the same old Bills and I’ve run out of platitudes to describe the disappointment.
—EJ Manuel isn’t good. This isn’t breaking news. I wrote about it this past week that if you are still viewing him as someone who can be an every game starter, you are going to be disappointed. Yet, for his 1st half, it didn’t matter how low your expectations were for him because he was awful. The game was hopeless in the 1st half because of EJ Manuel’s play. 4 of 12 for 50 yards and 2 turnovers that resulted in defensive TDs is a joke of a way to start this game.
At times, the guy can’t complete the simplest of passes. And yet, EJ kind of helped them dig out of that hole; throwing for 248 yards and 2 TDs on 20 of 32 passes after his sluggish start. Look, I feel bad for the jackass, but he should get some credit for coming back. I’m not saying he should get the key to the city or anything, but he was better in the 2nd half. Still, I don’t know what to make of him as the backup QB. I still think the game results are the same if Matt Cassel is the QB and the Bills are missing their top 2WRs. Cassel doesn’t make that throw to Easley, but then again, does Cassel commit 2 turnovers that result in 2 TDs?
Ugh. My head hurts. I just pick option C: All backup QBs suck in this league and it doesn’t matter.
—Once again the Bills are terrible in the first half. They have given up 16 or more points in the 1st half 4 times this year. The defense did its job for the most part, but then on the final drive…eh. The Jags went 17 minutes without a 1st down until their final drive and then Bortles wakes up and passes for 75yards and a TD. I mean, Bortles’ stats were awful today. He had just 107 yards before his final drive. The defense has been all or nothing this year. Sometimes they look like last year’s squad and then the next minute they crumble. Sorry, but this is the 30th ranked offense in the league with the Jags. You should be able to stop them on final drive. This isn’t Tom fucking Brady getting the game-winning TD. You battle back and take the fricken lead and then this happens…
—The Robey PI call was awful. AWFULLLLL. If the refs actually got their eyes checked before this game, maybe we don’t get to that gamewinning TD by Bortles. I hate the refs. I hate Roger Goodell.
—The Jags had 9 tackles that resulted in losses and EJ was sacked 4 times. The OL not doing their job up front.
—Robert Woods and EJ Manuel have had a nice connection going on. They duo have connected on 13 passes for 131 yards the last 2 weeks. When the duo play together (14 games), Woods has been targeted 100 times for 54 catches and 656 yds.
—The Bills gave up their first 100 yard rusher since Jerick McKinnon did it for the Vikings (14 games ago) last year.
—EJ Manuel has attempted 84 passes the last two weeks. That’s not even counting the sacks or his scrambles for positive yards. Way too many pass attempts.
—I pray to the football Gods that Matt Cassel sucks for Dallas. If he plays well, the shit is going to hit the fan majorly if you believe all the stuff about the coaching staff being angry about EJ for Cassel. Plus, the assholes who have been pimping the White Cassel narrative will be tap dancing on our backup QB graves. I can’t believe I’m talking about Matt F’N Cassel being the root of controversy between management and the coaching staff. Seriously, fuck this operation.
—What I liked? Mario Williams. He’s been the Bills best player on the DL this year. He had 1 sack, 2 tackles for losses and a QB hit today. I also liked McCoy’s game as he had over 100 yards in total offense. I wish the Bills used him more, but again, they were trailing by 24 and had to throw more than they probably wanted to.
–Speaking of McCoy…that fumble was killer. My God. There were so many plays today that if the Bills made or EJ didn’t make for the other team, they win this game.
—Both these teams suck. I am sorry to the great people in the UK.
—Heading into this game, the Bills were 8th in scoring. You’d have to think that number will go up today. Amazing that having an offense that gets you points are resulting in a 3-4 record.
—This was not one of Greg Roman’s finer games in playcalling. We can go with the stupid fade to Chris Hogan in the back of the end zone or the team deciding to pass 3 straight times after a penalty pushed them outside of the Jags 10-yard line. Then you had the last 3 offensive plays which were a fricken joke. Also, can we design a QB sneak that doesn’t suck? EJ Manuel is a fucking giant. He should be able to pull a Ric Flair dropping flat on his face bump and get 2 yards for a first down.
Final word: Just repeat that the AFC sucks and the Bills have to get healthy. They need to bring in Mr. Miyagi to cure these guys for the Miami game. If they are missing Watkins/Harvin/K. Williams again, they won’t have a prayer of being in the hunt by December.
