Is this on? [Taps Microphone]
Hey, so I haven’t done a Sabres recap since probably the 2nd lockout and to be honest I’m not really confident in my hockey writing ability like I used to. I just find myself to be falling behind times with Corsi/Fenwick stats and hockey recaps were never my bag. Also, I’m rusty as a junkyard 1977 Pinto. I feel that sometimes I just don’t know where to begin and I get stumped. Well, for this recap…and maybe future ones..Twitter is gonna help me with where to start, but I’ll be the one who finishes it off.
Evander’s back. Ullmark starts. Here’s our full lineup tonight. #BUFvsSTL pic.twitter.com/vjMTFEKvXe

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsDigging the 2nd line as its just oozing with potential. 1st line…Why is Gionta on there? Why is Gionta playing at all on the first 2 lines? Tyler Ennis seems to have played with like 11 different linemates it feels like.
Totally listened to you, bro https://t.co/ag4K62WGQB — TJ (@SteadyRiot) November 20, 2015

Seriously? Where the fuck do some of you people find these jackoffs on Twitter? Is there some sort of list on twitter called “BUCKTOOTH TROLLS”? Hawt take, bro.
63 nearly kills a guy, costs his team a goal and puts them in a giant hole from the get-go. You can’t make a dumber play
— Matthew Coller (@MatthewWGR) November 20, 2015
//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsDumb penalty by Ennis. The dude brings a lot to the table: Scoring, turnovers, stupid penalties, wide shots, and drawing teammates offside. Hey, I said he brought a lot to the table, just some of it happens to be shitty food.
I would pay actual money for a new 5-minute episode of Jack and the Moulsons every week. @BuffaloSabres — Heather B. (@heatherberm) November 20, 2015

No shit. That was a great episode. I was hoping we could see Moulson show Eichel how to shave next and how to score with the ladies at the mall. Thank God that BBG is back.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsI don’t know who this Stephanie girl is, but she’s got these gifs down. As for the goal, I always find Reinhart to be at the right place at the right time. Alright, that’s a bad cliche, but he’s always going to the net to either screen the goalie or he’s chipping in the rebound. He’s got really good instincts and knows where to go to get goals. He’s just johnny on the spot (Slams cliche dictionary against my head)
Can we just hire @martybiron43 forever, DRILL THAT OIL WELL @KimPegula — Jacek Eichelski (@Husaria) November 20, 2015

I agree. Biron is articulate and doesn’t go in the cliche machine like Rob Ray tends to do. He’s also not Mr. Punching bag guy that the Sabres seem to always employ.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsROR > RKO. Yeah, I’ll echo what all of Twitter is saying which is this guy is really good and will be captain whenever Gionta goes the Craig Rivet route. BTW, Gionta/Moulson did a lot of good work forechecking on this goal with Moulson setting up ROR. On the night, ROR lead the team in shots and faceoff wins. He’s also playing a shitload (25:06) which does worry me a bit for games down the road.

I always thought Paulrus looked like Paul Bearer when he had red hair and wasn’t sporting the mustache.
Don’t deserve two points if you can’t get a goal out of two extended 5 on 3’s
— sba (@essbeeay) November 20, 2015
//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsYeah, 2 chances with the 5-3 advantage and you come away with nothing. At least the 2nd go-around they looked better as ROR almost buried his chance and Risto had a nice opportunity from the point. The one that ended the 2nd period was brutal. Ennis/Gionta should not be on the same line together, especially on the PP.
Shots 12-5 for #Sabres in 3rd, 29-21 for the game. — Mike Harrington (@BNHarrington) November 20, 2015

This seems to be a reoccurring theme this season. Slow start…medium 2nd period…and completely turn it on in the 3rd period.
Huge save by Ullmark on Bortuzzo with 4:28 left in the 3rd!
— Buffalo Sabres (@BuffaloSabres) November 20, 2015
//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsAside from OT, I didn’t really care for Ullmark’s game tonight. Wasn’t about him really stinking, but more or less the Sabres played pretty well in front of him when you took away the stupid penalties. I think having Bogo back is really helping as they have been much better in their own zone over the last two games.
🚨3v3 OT ALERT🚨 #Sabres and Blues head to OT tied, 2-2. — Die By The Blade (@diebytheblade) November 20, 2015

I have zero hot takes in regards to 3-on-3 OT. Alright a small one…I thought 4-on-4 was good enough.
What the hell was that gionta..
— coreyb3p (@Coreyb3p) November 20, 2015
//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsHere’s a big 3-on-3 take…STOP USING GIONTA?!!?!?! His shift in OT was the worst sequence you could have with giveaways. Why is Ted Nolan still using him for his grit??
OMG fuck you Gionta. — @SarahWNY (@SarahWNY) November 20, 2015
//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
Completely missing the net? Give a ton of credit for the hard work Eichel did with keeping the puck in the zone after losing it and then dishing it to Gionta who was all alone, but decided to shoot the glass (Hans Gruber accent) instead of towards the goalie.
They should another 5 minutes of 3 on 3. End the shootout & bring back the tie.

Ennis over me? pic.twitter.com/dW1Kmqfhzq
— Adam Lindsay (@Alindz99) November 20, 2015
//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
Yeah, I don’t exactly get that. On top of that, Ennis decided to either try to moon the crowd when he started his descent on Allen with some half turn and then completely missed the net. At one point I thought Gionta was shooting over Eichel and I was about to beg for ties and zero OT/Shootout for the rest of my life. Anyways, Sabres get the loser point for the 2nd time in 3 games. Nice effort especially from the usual cats (55-9-90-15) and the 3rd and 4th line guys not doing much.
Stat I liked: 12 shots between Kane/ROR. They accounted for 33% of the Sabres shots tonight.
Stats I didn’t like: Brian Gionta playing 21:10 while Matt Moulson played just 15:25.
