For tonight I’m going to keep it short and sweet. The Bills, in an effort to “get ahead of” Shaq Lawson’s pre-existing injury are going to have him get the surgery they claimed he didn’t need. In fact, if you look at their 5 things on Shaq after he was drafted – number 4 was “shoulder checked out”. WELP.
To add insult to the injury – the Bills go on to cite that his commitment to the team is what is leading Lawson to get the surgery now and not miss more time. So, if they had a non-“all in” player, that guy would’ve skipped voluntary camp, not re-aggravated the injury “that didn’t exist” and would get hurt in season? C’mon.
Bills DE Shaq Lawson will have preemptive shoulder surgery tomorrow.

This is a major embarrassment for Whaley, Rex Ryan & #Bills football decision-makers. Plenty of questions to answer for ownership!

Vic’s a little bit into the hyperbole (and I’m more inclined to think of this as a dumb situation than embarrassment) – particularly with the Trump-esque exclamation finale. Yes, I get only Polian can make this team right. No, I don’t think the owners will fall for this. Let’s move on.
Ultimately, depending on his recovery Lawson will most likely miss the first month of the season. Having a brace like this on your shoulder in season is never good – but Bills medical said – “Yup, he’s good!”
And if that weren’t bad enough – Sammy Watkins was revealed to have broken his foot. Yippee!
Some more bad news for the #Bills this Monday. Multiple team sources tell me that wide receiver Sammy Watkins has broken his foot.

Watkins is scheduled to be back by camp – which has been ballyhooed as a great situation – which is 1/2 true. It also illuminates how useless the off-season can be in terms of off-field activities if you can write it off for one player, but that same player missing one voluntary practice can lead to rage blackouts by fans and some media. Weird.
Vic hit on the Watkins situation as well – and I can’t argue the logic:
Fragility rap only intensifies w #Bills WR Sammy Watkins. Despite great talent, injuries piled up thru 1st 2 NFL seasons & now broken foot.

Tomorrow I’ll have some very specific opinions on how much the medical staff is on the hook for this draft. But Brian Galiford, EIC of BuffaloRumblings put it best:

For all of the talk prior to the draft of “not wasting picks” on guys like Myles Jack or Jaylon Smith – and they’ve essentially done the same with Lawson. BILLS!
