Some of the AAC Football Fever staff members have been hand selected to give their weekly picks for each American Athletic Conference game.
Blake Lovell, Mitch Wilcox, Jay Saunders, Zach Rastall, and Al Burke will test their knowledge by contesting me each and every week for bragging rights (and maybe a gratifying pat on the back) at the end of the season.
Last week, I laid everything on the table by picking Tulane to upset Memphis and SMU to do the same against South Florida.
That didn’t work out so well.
What’s even worse is that I actually believed in those picks, not because I thought either team was better than their counterpart, but because this is simply how the AAC has trended in 2014.
It’s going to take some sort of miraculous event to crawl back into contention, especially since Blake and Zach seem to have had a stranglehold on first place since the beginning weeks of the season—but I shan’t give up now.
Going from Week 12 to 13, the matchups lose a bit of their luster and appeal. O.K., a lot. On to the picks:
