Roster Update: Indians’ prospect Cody Anderson made his major league debut today. Anderson began the season in AA Akron and has dominant through 10 starts, allowing just a 1.73 ERA. He was recently promoted to Columbus where he had similar success. In 3 starts he posted just a 2.33 ERA. Anderson was the Indians’ top pitching prospect in 2013 and he’s been head and shoulders above all other pitching prospects in the organization this season.

Player of the Game

Cody Anderson was spectacular in today’s game, making one of the best MLB debuts in Tribe history. The revolving door that has been the Indians 5th spot in the rotation has been closed for the time being. If Anderson can provide consistency throughout the remaining months the Indians will be a much stronger team.

Feathers Up

Cody Anderson’s MLB debut was a beauty. He pitched 7 2/3 innings of shutout baseball, allowing 6 hits, walking 1, and striking out 4. On a day in which the offense wasn’t going to help him out, throwing a shutout was the only way Anderson wasn’t going to lose the game. Not bad for your first time out.

Feathers Down

The Indians’ offense has been down right pathetic all series, and it continued to be so today. Facing off against Alex Colome, a pitcher with a 5.14 ERA and 5.10 FIP they mustered just 1 hit off through 7 innings. The offense didn’t fare much better in the final two innings either, collecting just two more hits.

Final Score: Cleveland Indians 1  Tampa Bay Rays 0

On Deck: The Indians kick off a crucial home series against the Detroit Tigers tomorrow. Trevor Bauer gets the start for the Tribe while the Tigers counter with Kyle Ryan. Bauer has yet to face Detroit, the only one of the primary four starters in the Indians’ rotation who hasn’t.
