Player of the Game
Cody Anderson was key to the Indians’ success tonight. The offense spotted him an early lead and it was far more than he needed.
Feathers Up
After dropping the first two games of the series, the Indians needed to come out strong right out of the gates and they did just that. Jason Kipnis lead things off with a home run. Later in the inning with runners in scoring position, Lonnie Chisenhall singled in two to put the Tribe up 3-0 quickly. The Tribe continued their quick scoring ways in the 3rd inning when Carlos Slamtana smashed a 3-run shot to right making it 6-0.
Cody Anderson was lights out tonight, like he has ever since returning from the disabled list. Anderson pitched a near flawless 6.2 innings tonight, allowing just 1 run while striking out 4 Twins. He did give up 10 hits, but circumvented any damage with opportune ground balls and general good pitching.
Feathers Down
The Indians didn’t do much wrong tonight. Bryan Shaw continued to show that he is demonstrably worse if pitching more than 1 inning, but other than that it was smooth sailing for the Wahoo Warriors.
Final Score: Cleveland Indians 6 – Minnesota Twins 3
On Deck: The Indians will begin a three game set in Kansas City tomorrow, a near must-sweep if this playoff dream is to survive. Carlos Carrasco is on the mound for the Tribe, Edison Volquez for the Royals.
