Before the game, Chris Antonetti spoke with MLB Network. According to MLB Network Radio’s twitter account, he stated that Bradley Zimmer and Clint Frazier have become potential trade options “whether that becomes the latter part of this year we’ll see.”

Certainly an interesting quote, given that the front office is typically quiet when it comes to the trade and free-agent market.

Player of the Game

Rajai Davis earned tonight’s honors by posting a .237 WPA.

Feathers Up

Davis tied the game in the top of the fifth with a two run home-run to left-field. In his last 30 games, Davis is now hitting (.286) 30-for-105, with 22 runs , five doubles, five home-runs and 15 RBI.

Michael Martinez added to the Indians runs when he to, hit a two-run home run of his own in the bottom of the seventh.

Feathers Down

The wheels completely came off in the bottom of the fifth inning; one full of wild pitches and bloop singles. The inning started when Drew Butera doubled on a soft fly ball to right-fielder Lonnie Chisenhall. After Butera reached third on an Alcides Escobar ground out, Kluber threw a wild pitch with Eric Hosmer batting, giving the lead right back to Kansas City. Homser then singled on a sharp ground ball through third base. Lorenzo Cain singled on a soft fly ball to right and Salvador Perez then slammed a three-run home-run to give the Royals a commanding lead in the game and series.

On Deck: 

The Indians head home (finally) to start a weekend series against the Chicago White Sox. Trevor Bauer will get the nod for the Indians on Friday after a scheduled off-day on Thursday. He will be pitching on extended five days’ rest, due to Thursday’s off day, after making his previous start on June 11 against the Angels in Los Angeles He owns a 3-2 record and a 3.47 ERA (22ER/57.0IP) with 18 walks and 46 strikeouts in nine outings as a starter this season. He also posted a 4.76 ERA (6ER/11.1IP) with 14 strikeouts and five walks over six relief appearances to open the 2016 season. In his last outing against the White Sox, on Sept. 7, 2015 in Chicago, allowed two earned run on two hits and five walks with six strikeouts over 7.0 innings of work.
