7/10 Recap: First Half Ends On A Slide

-4

Feathers Up:

Carlos Santana extended his hit streak to 11 games with a single in the first.

Tyler Naquin now has a team-high .716 SLG since June 1st.  Josh Donaldson entered today with a .705 SLG over the same time period.

Feathers Down:

The Achilles heel for the Indians this afternoon defense. They committed four errors, one of which from Fransisco Lindor who only has seven on the season.

Today marked  Carlos Carrasco’s second shortest outing of the season. The first was on April 24, where he lasted just 2 2/3 innings against the Tigers.

In the top of the second, the Tribe defense was shaky to say the least. Starlin Castro started the inning with a double. Two batters later, Rob Refsnyder reached first on a missed catch from first-baseman Carlos Santana, scoring Castro from second base. Austin Romine then doubled on a fly-ball to right-fielder Lonnie Chisenhall on a ball that should have been caught. After Carrasco got Brett Gardner to strikeout, Jacoby Ellsbury homered on a line drive to right center field, scoring Refnsyder and giving the Yankees an early 4-0 lead. Yankees scored four in 2nd, but three (all on Ellsbury HR) were unearned.

The Indians left the bases loaded in the bottom of the second, only netting one run.

Final Score: Indians 7   Yankees 11
