Oehser gives five reasons to be happy about the offense

3. Brody Eldridge. In many off-seasons, a rookie or two creates a buzz and gives Colts coaches and personnel officials an early indication that he will be an impact rookie. Eldridge may not be the only rookie who fits that description this off-season, but whenever Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell was asked about the tight end from Oklahoma, there came a smile and he indicated the Colts believe they have a player who can contribute. The Colts drafted Eldridge in the fifth round to provide a run-blocking presence at the position up front, but here’s the bonus: despite rarely being a part of the Sooners’ passing offense, Eldridge showed during organized team activities he may have the hands and route-running ability to make a key contribution in the passing game. “He had a very good spring – good grasp of things,” Caldwell said recently.
