One of the nice things about rooting for a team like the Cardinals is that they’re long on winning and short on gimmicks.
The things that other teams have to do to lure fans out to the ball yard are varied and numerous. An old workhorse the past few years has been gimmick food.
For instance:
- Corn dogs stuffed with chedder, penos and bacon? Arizona has you covered.
- 3 pound banana splits? Head to the south side.
- Sausage wrapped pretzel smothered in crab dip? Baltimore, baby.
- Pulled pork parfait? Even has it’s own Twitter account.
The D-Backs, White Sox, Orioles and Brewers have something in common besides culinary monstrosities… a lack of butts in seats during the dog days of summer.
So it makes sense for them to try and goose people on the fence about heading out to the park with some easy talking points – even if you don’t want to eat the pulled pork parfait, you wouldn’t mind seeing someone else try it, right?
The Cards, on the other hand, don’t really need to make waves in the ocean of weird eats. They’ve tried things before. ‘The Bratzel‘ jumps to mind. But overall? You’re not going to find much exotic about the fare in Busch Stadium.
Until now.

But that’s not all… in the coming weeks, the Cardinals will introduce things “like the Double Gooey Burger, Extreme Bacon Sandwich and Oreo Churro”.
Look at that thing, would ya. Look at it.
This is not going to help the diet. Not one bit.
It’s hard to get into too much of a lather as long as these ‘treats’ don’t start replacing nachos and peanuts in the concession like (note – they won’t). And sure, they’re fun to look if someone orders them.
Still –
Look at that thing!
