The State College Spikes located in State College Pennsylvania are the St. Louis Cardinals’ short season class A affiliate. They’ve been associated with the team since 2013. Previously, they had a relationship with the Cardinals from 1981 through 2006.

Yesterday the Riverfront Times reported that the Spikes had apologized.

For what you ask? Corey Feldman.

The State College Spikes would like to apologize to our fans for Corey Feldman’s appearance last night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. While the nature of the appearance was not what we had anticipated for the evening, we would like to apologize to all fans who may have been offended by its content. We would also like to apologize to our fans for the appearance being so far below expectations.

Just how bad was it, though? And what can we learn from this apparently traumatic experience?

I am going to watch this video for the first time, pausing to take notes. If you haven’t seen the video, maybe we can watch together?

0:03 – The Robot isn’t an easy dance move. Really need a good amount of space, which Feldman doesn’t have the luxury of on this stage setup. I’m already worried for those poor kids.

Those poor, poor kids.

0:17 – Feldman grew a pony.

0:21 – Penn State guy just made himself at home, didn’t he. Most of the crowd behind him left a 10 foot buffer zone. But Penn State guy does what he wants.

0:40 – Is Feldman is getting a raw deal? Is the music good – no, not at all. But it’s not like he’s mailing it in. He’s trying to work the crowd.

1:06 – Spoke to soon. The dark knight has now taken control.

1:20 – Can we have a serious talk for a second? Let’s say you’re single. And let’s say you ask out a girl and she says yes.

You go out once and hit it off. So you go out again. And a few other times after that. You continue to see each other. And all of a sudden a few months have passed and you have found yourself a girlfriend.

But you’re not 20. You think about your future. You want to have kids.

One day you get sent this video by a buddy. ‘Hey man, isn’t that your girl in this video? Or am I crazy?’ Your bro isn’t crazy. That’s her. The right angel. The fake DJ. The one willingly participating in this performance.

Can you continue to date? Can you overcome this life choice by the potential future mother of your children?

1:27 – The guy in the grey shirt is actively protecting the kids from this. Mayor should probably be working on a key to the city or a proclamation to properly fête this hero.

1:44 – We get our first ‘WHOOOOOO’ (with a follow up wooo a couple seconds later). Must be what inspires Feldman to keep this going for another 2 minutes.

2:01 – Oh no.

3:01 – What’s going with that belt? Have even the loops abandoned Feldman at this point?

3:55 – It’s over. Punctuated with a point up towards the heavens. We made it.

Notes:

1) That wasn’t good.

2) Was it so offensive that the team needed to issue an apology? Probably not. No.

3) Are we sure this wasn’t part of some more elaborate trolling? That we’re not going to see this on some other show in a few months? Were the Lonely Island Boys behind this?

4) Really hope those kids get the support they need moving forward.
