If you’re a St. Louis sports fan, it wasn’t a good weekend.
The Cardinals shot themselves in the foot and gave away an NLDS game to the Cubs. The Blues still can’t solve the Minnesota Wild (the team that eliminated them from the 2015 postseason). And the Rams had opportunities to make it game in Green Bay, but lost. Because the Rams can’t have nice things.
Oh, PFT happened to publish this nice little story about a St. Louis landfill that’s currently on fire and possibly igniting a separate toxic dump that sits close to where the Rams practice. I’m sure no one in Rams ownership fed them that. Not a chance, right?
Sigh.
So I guess it’s appropriate that it’s the 15th anniversary of Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) trolling St. Louis.
+++++
It was October 11th 2000 and the Cardinals were playing the Mets in GM1 of the NLCS. Back then people didn’t have the instant access to scores/video that we do now (not that the current wifi at Scottrade is much better).
So when Vedder came on stage, there probably were a fair amount of people that didn’t actually know what happened at the game. Especially if you got to the concert when the doors opened.
Here’s what happened (audio):
Vedder is a noted Cubs fan, so I’m sure he enjoyed this quite a bit.
Time to put this weekend behind us. Monday has never looked so good.
