We knew that Aledmys Diaz was on fire at the plate in 2016. But until last night’s 11-4 win over Arizona, the Cardinals shortstop did not have enough at-bats to qualify as a league leader.
He does now.
And his .468 (FOUR SIXTY EIGHT) average is the top mark in all of baseball. Diaz could go 1 for his next 38 and still be batting over .300!
Listen – if we’re all being honest here – I think we would all would have been satisfied if Diaz had came in this April with Peralta and Tejada on the DL and had just been serviceable at the plate and steady in the field. After all, he was expected to spend most of the year in Memphis playing AAA ball.

Weren’t banking on this.
How long is this going to last? Anytime you’re closer to .500 than .300, probably not that long. But it’s sure as hell fun to watch at the moment.
