CBS SPORTS’ JIM NANTZ TO TOSS OUT FIRST PITCH AT FENWAY PARK BEFORE YANKEES-RED SOX GAME ON THURSDAY, JUNE 11
Best-Selling Author Also to Speak at The Great Fenway Park Writers Series Earlier in Day
CBS Sports’ Jim Nantz, who penned the New York Times bestseller Always By My Side: A Father’s Grace and a Sports Journey Unlike Any Other, will toss out the first pitch at Fenway Park prior to the Red Sox hosting the New York Yankees on Thursday, June 11. Earlier in the day (12:00 Noon, ET), Nantz will be appearing at The Great Fenway Park Writers Series to talk about the book which chronicles personal stories from his historic broadcasting career with CBS Sports, his father’s illness with Alzheimer’s disease and the many people he met along the way who remind him of the virtues his father instilled in him.
The Great Fenway Park Writers Series, the only series of its kind ever sponsored by a professional sports organization, is in its fifth year. The series has featured some notable Americans — Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, former Maryland Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Washington Post Middle East expert Robin Wright, feminist Gloria Steinem, ESPN’s Linda Cohn, SI and Public Radio’ Frank Deford, former U.S. senator and candidate for president Bill Bradley, basketball great Bill Russell, highly acclaimed novelist and satirist Roy Blount Jr., and some of the nation’s most highly regarded sports writers.
An update of Nantz’s best-selling book has recently been released in paperback under the title, Always By My Side: The Healing Gift of a Father’s Love.
I have the update in Jim’s book and I do plan to do a review. Look for that soon.
