Georgia’s Nike Pro Combat Uniforms

The debut of the Nike Pro Combat Uniforms for the Georgia Bulldogs came with a little controversy this past week. Most of the comments I saw on the Twitter-verse were negative after the introduction of the uniforms but after that some positives started to trickle in. Here are a couple of pics from the Nike blog. Let’s go around the Georgia Blog-o-sphere for some thoughts from some of the Georgia bloggers:

Bernie’s Dawg Blawg: The attention paid towards uniforms that Nike has provided the program to use for the opening game is embarrassing. I only ask that you remember two things when you decide whether you like the uniforms or not: it’s one game and fans don’t have to wear them.

Dawg Sports: It still looks like something out of a campy ‘70s sci-fi film

Georgia Sports Blog: I actually like the Silver helmet especially given that we have some history in that area with the pre-1964 uniforms. However, the uber wide red stripe blows. Regardless, it’s a one game deal.

Get The Picture: If they win, these look fine.

I will admit that when I first saw the new uniforms I definitely had a negative reaction to them. That being said, the players seem to like them and in the long run that’s what matters. These uniforms, which will only be worn for the opener against Boise State, won’t win or lose the game on the field for Georgia so why make such a big deal about them. The more I look at them they don’t look SO bad and they definitely will look better if Georgia pulls one out against the Broncos in the opener in the Dome.
