Detmer Award: Week Eleven Ballot

I got invited last year to take part in our friend Kyle Kensing's "Detmer Award" over at Saturday Blitz. What exactly is the "Detmer Award"? Here is how he describes it:

The five non-BCS conferences and 75 percent of the independents are differentiated from the Big Six in virtually every other facet, so it only makes sense the best players from this subdivision-subdivision have an award for its best player. Just as fitting is for this honor to bear the name of the last player from one of these universities to win college football’s top honor, 1990 Heisman winner and BYU quarterback Ty Detmer. SaturdayBlitz.com will track this completely exclusive field’s progress throughout the season.

Here is my week nine ballot based on game performance. Feel free to chime in with who you would have voted for based on last weeks performance…

#1 Robbie Rouse, RB, Fresno State- Ran for 261 yards on 36 carries with 2 TDs against Nevada in a 52-36 win.

#2 Dri Archer, RB, Kent State- Led the Golden Flashes over Miami (OH) as he had 151 yards rushing and 54 receptions with 3 TDs (2 rushing and 1 receiving).

#3 Anthon Samuel, RB, Bowling Green- Ran four 181 yards and 2 TDs including the final score in the upset of Ohio.

#4 Brett Smith, QB, Wyoming- Threw for four TDs, 0 INTs and 374 yards in a 28-23 win at New Mexico.

#5 (tie) David Oku, RB and Ryan Aplin, QB, Arkansas State- the former Tennessee Volunteer helped his team by ULM as he ran for 131 yards and 3 TDs and his QB Ryan Aplin threw for 334 yards and 2 TDs in this pivotal Sun Belt match-up.
