Bret Bielema had a very good run at Wisconsin. He was 86-24 and led the Badgers to three Rose Bowl births although he never won one. He had three top ten finishes out of his seven seasons. But he's inheriting a big challenge at Arkansas.
The Razorbacks are coming off of a 4-8 season in which they won just two conference games. Bielema loses their starting QB (3387 yds passing, 21 TD), 84% of their rushing yards and their leading receiver (90 rec, 1335 yds). If that's not enough, this defense finished 12th in the conference giving up 30.4 points per game and 409 yards per game.
So what does Bielema do? He picks out the biggest dog in the yard (Nick Saban) and decides to poke him with a stick.
I came to the SEC for a variety of reasons, but the major one in my mind was to win an SEC championship. You can take Saban’s record when he was at Michigan State and when he was a coach in the Big Ten and put it against mine, and he can’t compare
He's definitely not the smartest coach in the SEC but you have to admire his confidence.
