This will be the least exciting week of SEC football this season so let’s just get right into the predictions without much “analysis”….
FAU (0-1) at Alabama (1-0), Noon, SEC Network
Line: Alabama by 41
Prediction: Alabama 48 FAU 0
Missouri (1-0) at Toledo (1-0), Noon, ESPN
Line: Missouri by 4
This one could be interesting because the Rockets play very well at home and are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games. Despite that, I think Mizzou just has a bit more talent than the Rockets.
Prediction: Missouri 31 Toledo 17
Arkansas State (1-0) at Tennessee (1-0), Noon
Tennessee by 18
Despite the numerous coaching changes, Arkansas State has been a good “mid-major” team over the last several years. Tennessee had a great opener against Utah State but I think this one might be closer than the odds makers think.
Prediction: Tennessee 28 Arkansas State 20
UAB (1-0) at Mississippi State (1-0), 2 PM
Line: Mississippi State by 28
UAB looks like a much improved team but they won’t have enough firepower to overtake Mississippi State. Dan Mullen loves cupcakes and his Bulldogs are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games.
Prediction: Mississippi State 45 UAB 14
Ohio (1-0) at Kentucky (1-0), 3:30 PM, ESPNU
Line: Kentucky by 14
Kentucky had a very impressive debut last Saturday. Can they follow it up against improved competition this week?
Prediction: Kentucky 31 Ohio 14
EMU (1-0) at Florida (0-0), 4 PM, SEC Network
Line: Florida by 38
I’m not sure how Florida is a 38 point favorite over anybody. Until they prove they can score that many points, take the points.
Prediction: Florida 35 EMU 10
Nicholls State (0-1) at Arkansas (0-1), 4 PM
Prediction: Arkansas 52 Nicholls State 14
Ole Miss (1-0) at Vanderbilt (0-1), 4:30 PM, ESPN
Line: Ole Miss by 21
Due to Vandy’s performance last week against Temple this line could be inflated a little bit. Ole Miss should win this game fairly easily but they struggled mightily against Boise State last week for three quarters.
Prediction: Ole Miss 31 Vanderbilt 17
East Carolina (1-0) at South Carolina (0-1), 7 PM, ESPNU
Line: South Carolina by 17
After laying an egg against Texas A&M in week one, the Gamecocks now get to try and defend an explosive ECU offensive which features Justin Hardy and Shane Carden. The Gamecocks could also be without star RB Mike Davis. The Gamecocks will win, but it might not come easily.
Prediction: South Carolina 42 East Carolina 28
San Jose State (1-0) at Auburn (1-0), 7 PM, ESPN2
Line: Auburn by 34
Auburn’s offense is just too much for the Spartans in this one.
Prediction: Auburn 48 SJSU 10
Sam Houston State (1-1) at LSU (1-0), 7:30 PM, SEC Network
Despite an early loss, Sam Houston State is a good FCS team and could give this young LSU team problems early.
Prediction: LSU 42 Sam Houston State 17
Lamar (1-0) at Texas A&M (1-0), 7:30 PM
Prediction: A&M 63 Lamar 7
