Redskins: Morgan Moses, best RT of Week 4 says Pro Football Focus

Redskins Cowboys Football

Here’s something different. One of our Redskins’ big uglies got rare good press after Week 4 — right tackle, Morgan Moses.

Pro football Focus named Moses the best at his position for his performance against the Browns.

“All of the top RT performances this week benefitted to some degree from the competition they were going against, but Washington’s Morgan Moses kept a clean sheet from a pass-protection standpoint, allowing no pressure or penalties on his 62 snaps.”

Remember when we wondered if Moses had the right stuff for the NFL when he entered the league in 2014?

In 2015, the coaching staff liked what they saw in Moses enough that they moved first-round lineman Brandon Scherff to guard so that they could start both he and Moses together. That’s working well, so give an atta-boy to head coach Jay Gruden and O-line coach Bill Callahan for the move.

Lawd knows, they could use a pat on the back for something.

The Redskins defense helped a Browns player look good to PFF too.

Isaiah Crowell has been a large factor in the Browns playing teams closer than many expected this season. This week, he broke 10 tackles on just 19 touches, gaining almost 6 yards per carry after contact.”

Hog Heaven was just as impressed with Crowell and we are grateful that Cleveland used him less than they should have at the end of the game.

But, that’s their problem.

That part about “broke 10 tackles on 19 carries” is our problem.

Here’s to you, Morgan Moses. We look forward to more of the same.

And a shout out to Pro Football Focus for respecting linemen. They say the quarterback is the single most important player in football. We say the line is 51 percent of the success or failure of every play. Look there first if you seek the reason a play worked or not.
