Looking like Vigneault wants to start season with 8 D, as such: McDonagh-Girardi, Staal-Klein, Skjei-McIlrath. Then Holden-Clendenning. #NYR

This is how bad the Rangers are defensively. Girardi by any definition is no longer a top pairing defenseman and Klein hasn’t beaten him for the top spot. Skjei’s poor showing in camp possibly kept him from moving up the depth chart right from the beginning.
Again, this is why the Rangers needed to revamp the defense similar to what they did on offense this summer. The total void of a true top right handed shot from the point will be an issue all season long for this team who were somehow unable or unwilling to make a move to rectify that situation. And the team on the ice will be worse off for it.
Tanner Glass and Nathan Gerbe clear waivers. #NYR
