Tonight’s 24

You won’t get a bigger fan of 24 than me, but this season has made it tough for a diehard fan (like me) to stay with the season. There are so many storylines borrowed from previous seasons (the Vice President using the 25th Amendment to depose a President Palmer, nuclear bomb threat, Jack being in a dark place, the lack of Jack Bauer at times, etc., etc., etc.) that I’ve been quite disappointed. Loved the first five seasons, but this is obviously the worst of them all.

The first season was groundbreaking. The second season was decent. The third was rushed to me. I liked the fourth season and last season was almost as good as the first. But this season has been awful.

Tonight’s episode with the Chinese infiltrating CTU, that’s been done before. CTU has been blown up (S2), infiltrated with moles (S1, S3, S4) and had poison gas set off (S5), you would think it would have better security by now.

You have Audrey who has hardly said a word since her return. The Bauer family storyline involving Phillip (Jack’s dad), sister-in-law Marilyn (played by notorious show killer Rena Sofer) and her son, Josh who may or may not be Jack’s son, is just plain convoluted.

The Chloe we all know and love has been de-fanged this season. She’s not the sarcastic Chloe of the last three seasons.

So I’m hoping next season which is supposed to be moving outside of Los Angeles for once will hopefully give this show a shot in the arm, plus there’s a movie that’s supposed to be made after next season.

It’s no wonder why Heroes and Dancing with the Stars have been consistently beating 24 over the last two months.
