Spurs take Game 1 of the 2007 WCF!

Spurs took a 1-0 lead today in the WCF by beating the Utah Jazz 108-100. Do not let the final score fool you. The Spurs put on a clinic on the 2nd quarter, totally dominiating the Jazz on both the offensive and defensive ends. The big-3 of the Spurs, Parker, Duncan, and Ginobilli led the way for the Spurs but the Spurs got help from the other players.
We here at the Spurscast been bitching about the Center position but today, Oberto came alive and chipped in with 14 points and 7 boards and Elson put in 6 points. Total team effort from the Spurs who showed no let-down from the Suns series.
However the 2nd half for the Spurs was a different story. D. Williams for the Jazz took over and scored 34 points and broke down the Spurs defense. Though the Spurs got the win, they need to address this for game 2. Boozer who was ineffective in the 1st half came alive in the second half brining the Jazz to as close as 8 points.
The Spurs will have to win game 2 in SA because during the regular season, the Spurs did not win in Utah. Game 2 will be on Tuesday, May 22, at 9pm in San Antonio.
Key for game 2 is to rebound, rebound, rebound, rebound! The Spurs got out boarded by the Jazz in game 1. Also, they need to work on defending the pick and roll a bit better.
