As you know, the Philadelphia Union have made a USL expansion team, based out of Lehigh Valley, which will take the field in 2016. The Union are letting the fans decide what the new clubs team name will be. As of today, they have released the 4 options for the new franchise to be called.
The 4 options are:
1. Lehigh Valley Steel FC
2. Bethlehem Steel FC
3. Lehigh Valley Blast
4. Steel SC
3 of the 4 options incorporate the word “Steel” in it, which is of course bringing back memories from the great Bethlehem Steel FC, who a top American soccer club from 1907-1930. Many soccer fans want to incorporate “Steel” into the name to bring back some of the tradition from that once great team. The fresh idea is of course the Lehigh Valley Blast, which I personally don’t like. I think they should definitely incorporate Steel in the name of the new club. Personally, I’m going to vote for Lehigh Valley Steel FC. What do you think the new team will be named?
