Believe it or not, the Phillies will be in the playoffs, the Reading Phillies. The double A affiliate of the Phillies will start their playoff voyage tomorrow as they head to Binghamton to play the Bmets. Reading boasts  the best record in the eastern league going 80-61 behind its abundance of future big leaguers. Although the likes of Aaron Nola, Jessse Biddle, and Aaron Altherr have been promoted, the top 3 prospects in the organization are leading the charge. Former 1st round draft pick JP Crawford has heated up at the right and with the help of pitcher Jake Thompson and outfielder Nick Williams, who were acquired in the Hamels deal, Reading has the talent to go all the way.

The Fightins’ boast the best lineup in double A with Crawford, Williams, eastern league MVP Brock Stassi, red hot Andrew Knapp, and the likes of Cam Perkins and Brian Pointer.

The rotation isn’t half bad either, Jake Thompson is 5-1 with a 1.80 ERA in 7 starts since being traded. Along with Zach Eflin and Ben Lively, who were acquired in the offseason, Reading is tough to beat in a series.

The playoffs start tomorrow with Eflin taking on Tyler Pill who has been great in double A. Game 2 will  also be played in Binghamton and then the series turns to Reading for 3 weekend games. Games 4 and 5 if necessary. If Reading advances, they will play the Western league winner, either Bowie or Altoona.

Your future Phillies are already feeling the pressure of the playoffs, their success should excite you for the future, but for right now Let’s go Reading! Stay tuned for updates.
