GAME NOTES: After an offensive onslaught yesterday, is a pitcher’s duel in the works? Beckett takes the hill seeking his 17th win, a start after losing to the New York Yankees. Halladay has had an off year, posting a 3.87 ERA, high for his standards. He’s been knocked around majorly by the Sox this year, too. The series win is theirs with a win, while Chien-Ming Wang attempts to gain his 17th win as well against Horacio Ramirez (in other words, a near certainty).
