Tyvon Branch picked up one of the weekly honors from the Big East as he was named Special Teams Player of the Week for his 97-yard touchdown return. He ended up with 150 yards on a total of 3 kickoff returns. His 97-yard touchdown return came right after Akron had just gone ahead 10-9 in the 2nd quarter. You could say it was the straw that broke the camel’s back because that would be the last time Akron would score in the game.
Danny Lansanah and Andre Dixon were named to the Big East Honor Roll for their performances in Saturday’s 44-10 win over Akron. Dixon had 12 carries for 116 yards and one touchdown and 4 catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. Lansanah had 13 tackles and 1 sack.
The ACC and Big East announced that UCONN’s game vs Virginia on October 13th will start at 3:30 PM. It will be broadcast on ESPNU. So if you don’t have ESPNU, you’re screwed out of watching it.
UCONN received 9 votes in the AP Poll and 23 votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll. They are one of only 12 undefeated teams in 1-A. One more win makes them bowl eligible but I think it would be better for them to have around 8 wins.
Here is a look at the highlights from the game. Video comes courtesy of JaredNuss.com. If you want to see more highlights from other games, check out his site.
