Temple comes back to beat Tulsa in OT

-4

Temple could not buy basket most of the game, only shooting 34% in the first half. but found themselves tied with Tulsa heading into halftime. Tulsa got off to a fast start in the second half with a 10-2 run, building the lead up to 12.

However, they didn’t count on Quenton DeCosey, who was held scoreless in the first half, to go off like he did. DeCosey led the Owls with 21 points with all of them coming in the second half including a stretch where he had seven straight points for the Temple. Down by three with 10 seconds left to go, DeCosey found Devin Coleman, who would finish with 10 points off the bench, for a step-back three to send the game into overtime.

In overtime, a couple of timely three’s from Obi Enechionyia(17 points) and Daniel Dingle plus two free throws from DeCosey at the end sealed an impressive 83-79 comeback victory for Temple.

Jaylen Bond had a double in the game with 13 points and 13 rebounds and played well through foul-trouble. Obi play continues to improve each game which is an encouraging sign for Temple if they still are planning making a run at the tournament. One of the keys for Temple, is they shot 53%(8/15) from beyond the arc in the second half and were ultimately to knock down shots when they needed it the most. Temple got a little sloppy in this one turning the ball over eleven times, but they were able to overcome that problem and get the win.

Temple is now 7-1, when Quenton DeCosey scores 20 points or more and they are still very much alive for the one-seed in the AAC Tournament in Orlando. Temple will head to Orlando ironically this Saturday to face Central Florida at noon on ESPNU again.
