With Daisuke Matsuzaka being scratched for tonight’s game Jon Lester pitched on three days rest, the first time of his career, and could not extend Boston’s winning streak losing to the Angels 6-4.
This was Boston’s second scratched starter in two straight days and this time the Boston had no late inning rally.
Shining for the Angles was Gary Matthews Jr. who hit two homeruns in the game and first baseman Casey Kotchman who put the Halo’s ahead for good with a solo homerun in the sixth inning snapping Boston’s six-game win streak.
Goat of the Game: The Flu
Somehow Boston survived not losing both of these games against the Angels with Josh Beckett and Dice-K being scratched and then having to turn to David Pauley and Lester to salvage a win. Hopefully, Boston will overcome this bug soon enough.
Preview of Next Game: Justin Masterson
It is Joe Saunders vs Justin Masterson.
