Count on J.D. Drew.
I bet you never thought we would say that, but Red Sox Nation is after Drew drove in the go-ahead run yesterday to beat the Seattle Mariners 2-1.
In a low scoring affair Drew deposited a solo home run into the center field bleachers giving Boston a 2-1 lead and the bullpen brass of Craig Hansen (H), Hideki Okajima (H), and Jonathan Papelbon (S) kept the door shut to ensure the victory.
Papelbon’s one inning of work was good enough for his 18th save of the season.
Star of the Game: Justin Masterson
Masterson is now 3-0 on the season earning the win on six innings, three hits, one run, three walks, and four strikeouts. It is good to see with all of the injuries that the Sox are still finding ways to win.
Preview of Next Game: Day off today
Much needed too considering all the injuries and considering that everyone has had to be stepping up for the team in roles that we as fans most likely did not think we were going to have to see them step into.
