Live in primetime, American Jonathan Horton will try to reach the Olympic all-around podium after a fourth-place finish at last year's world championships. Two-time reigning world champion Yang Wei of China, who won silver eight years ago in Sydney, is heavily favored to win gold at home in Beijing.
Multiple-medal threats Katie Hoff and Natalie Coughlin lead the way for Team USA in the 4x200m Freestyle Relay final, and the fastest men in the pool, including American contenders Garrett Weber-Gale and Jason Lezak. Plus Michael Phelps continues his historic quest. On this night: no finals, but he will swim the 200m Individual Medley semifinals. Also watch Natalie Coughlin as she tries to qualify for the gold medal final in the semifinals of the 100m freestyle.
China could sweep the diving events in Beijing and reigning world champions Qin Kai and Wang Feng of China are good bets to win synchro springboard gold.
NBC DAYTIME HIGHLIGHTS:
The USA Women's Water Polo Team, which reached the medal podium in Sydney and Athens, continues its march through the qualifying round in a key matchup against defending Olympic champion Italy.
USA's Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte will be in the qualifying heats for the men's 200m Individual Medley, as Phelps continues his pursuit of history in the Water Cube.
NBC LATENIGHT HIGHLIGHTS:
Seven-time Olympic medalist Amanda Beard, now a 26-year-old swimmer and model, is competing in her fourth Olympics 12 years after making her first team as a teddy bear-toting 14-year-old at the Atlanta Olympics. Tonight, Beard races for a spot in the final of her lone Beijing event, the women's 200m breaststroke.
USA NETWORK HIGHLIGHTS:
American men and women are in action live as Diana Taurasi and the defending Olympic champion USA Women's Basketball Team takes on Mali and the USA Men's Soccer Team – led by phenoms Freddy Adu and Jozy Altidore – competes against Nigeria.

The USA Baseball Team plays its first Olympic game since winning gold in 2000 as the Americans take on South Korea.
