Jed Lowrie jumped on Brandon League’s 1-1 offering and lined it out of the park to right field giving Boston a 6-5 lead and Manny Delcarmen finished out the eleventh giving the Red Sox a hard fought win against Toronto.
Jonathan Papelbon pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the win.
Star of the Game: Lowrie
I loved him as soon as he came up (bought his shirt as soon I could get my hands on it) but man is he growing on me even more. 0-4 going into his at bat in the 11th Lowrie easily could have gone up to the plate not prepared, but he did not and delivered the game winning solo-blast. Today Julio Lugo, you have officially lost your job. And if you do not think so go watch that kid play better defense than you too.
What a joke the Lugo signing really was.
