Big Ten Bloggers Pick’Em – results

Looking back at the selections made by The BBC.  8-2 isn’t bad.

Michigan State vs. Florida Atlantic – The Spartans didn’t blow it out like I thought they would…as a matter of fact, I’m left with more questions than answers about MSU.  Losing to Cal was respectable until you watched Cal get manhandled yesterday. Still, Dantonio got the win and has a good team to improve with….and Ringer is a monster.

Northwestern vs. Southern Illinois – The Salukis graduated most of their 12-2 team last year, and I thought it would hurt them.  But damn, did the Cats take it to them HARD.  A big big win for Northwestern.

Minnesota vs. Montana State – Minnesota started slow, but put a 2nd and 3rd quarter beatdown on their overmatched opponent.  Minnesota deserves this, they’ve been through hard times.

Illinois vs. Louisiana-Lafayette – Did anybody else think it would be as close as it was.  Illinois lost some of their fear factor yesterday.  Having a bye next week before the Penn State game will not help them much.

Iowa vs. Iowa State – Iowa hadn’t seen any real opposition, so you weren’t sure if their offense and their defense was for real.  Their defense is, their offense isn’t.

Michigan at Notre Dame – For Michigan – 6 turnovers, a barrage of boo-boos on kickoffs, their second leading rusher was their punter, and Morgan Trent interferes with WRs at 4.13 speed.  For Notre Dame – Under 50% passing, 3.3 yards per rush, and a formal complaint lodged by PETA after that player assaulted a manatee on the sidelines before halftime.

I stand by my Special Olympics remark.  Admit it, you thought about that several times during the game, didn’t you?

Penn State at Syracuse – Are you kidding me?  Akron beat Syracuse.  Shut up.

Purdue vs. Oregon – Purdue’s kicker is the loneliest man alive today.  The Boilers had Oregon beat, but a miss as time expired, and another in OT cost them their victory over a ranked team.

Wisconsin at Fresno State – The Badgers won their major road test, despite getting jobbed by the refs on an overturned fumble call.  But Fresno State exposed Wisky’s greatest weakness when they slowed down their running attack.

Ohio State at USC -U-G-L-Y, I ain’t got no alibi.
