Saturday thoughts, and other stuff

I’ve seen minimal action live today, but caught a few highlights from a couple of restaurants near Universal Studios Hollywood.  Take all this with a grain of salt, but here’s my thoughts.

Ohio State/Minnesota

• To my little stalker from Minnesota, who sent me e-mails all week gloating about the Gophers’ 4-0 record….you’re still Minnesota, you know.  This is Ohio State, not Montana State.  Get back in your box.
• I watched a live play-by-play feed all morning, and when Terrelle Pryor and Beanie Wells busted off big runs in the first drive, I felt comfortable right away.  Pryor tearing off two runs of over 30 yards each gives me the warm fuzzies too.
• Being up 20-3 early was also a nice scene, especially when you consider that Minny’s 3 points came off a turnover deep in our own territory.
• Did Beanie look as good as his nearly 8 yards per carry says he did?  I haven’t seen yet.
• Also, did Boeckman really start the game or did ESPN Gameplay name the wrong QB on the first two plays?
• I was kinda disappointed that we gave up 15 late points, but the final score didn’t show the true nature of the game….who cares.

Around the Big Ten

• Did Michigan actually create a gameplan in the 4th quarter or did Wisconsin just choke it away?
• Oh, Purdue….sweet Purdue, why hast thou forsaken me?
• Iowa lost to Northwestern? Told ya so….but they nearly pulled it out in the end.  4 straight plays inside the 10 yard line in the final minute nearly gave the Hawkeyes a big win.
• Michigan State isn’t getting the press, and they have that scary sneak-up-on-you aura to them.
• Last I looked, Penn State was going to beat Illinois.  The Illini would be scary if they knew they were allowed to play defense.  Meanwhile, Penn State brought back their felons for a big game.  What a shocker, they were suspended for cupcakes and nothing more.  If they stay off police blotters, they could go a long long way. 

Elsewhere

• Florida lost to who???  Seriously?
• Georgia was down 31 points in the first half.  At home.  They’ll probably move up the rankings anyway.  You know….SEC.  The Buckeyes got humiliated on the road by a #1 team and dropped 9 slots.  Georgia got spanked at home by a good team, they’d better drop big too.
• Oklahoma will finally be ranked #1 after another excellent showing…but which SEC coaches will refuse to vote them #1 this time?
