Buckeyes climb to #11 in Coaches Poll

Ohio State jumped one slot in the Coaches Poll, just released.  South Florida fell from #10 to #20, creating the gap for the Buckeyes.  Auburn’s loss didn’t affect OSU, they were already below us.

I expect to see us at #12 in the AP poll later today, up from #14.  Both USF and Auburn were ranked above us in that poll.

The Big Ten now has five teams in the poll.  Penn State #6, Ohio State #11, Michigan State #19, Northwestern #22, and Wisconsin #24.  I think Minnesota got screwed, picking up only one vote total.

If the Buckeyes win out, their chances at the National Championship are still possible.

  • #1 Oklahoma still has to play #5 Texas, #7 Texas Tech, and maybe #2 Missouri in the Big 12 Championship.
  • #2 Missouri has #5 Texas as well, and then the Big 12 title game.
  • #3 LSU has #12 Georgia, #11 Florida, and #4 Alabama

If we beat #6 Penn State along the way, and do it decisively, we’ve got a shot.  But no more slipups and no more doubt.
