Yeah, it’s official….it’s gonna rain Saturday night at The Shoe. 60 percent chance of precipitation, and the temperature is going to drop into the 40s by halftime. That’s going to change the gamplan a lot for these two teams.
For one, they both run varieties of the spread offense. Rain and cold will slow down those offenses. Passing the ball will be limited, and it’s going to come down to the run game more than anything else.
My initial instinct will be that the best chances fall behind the team who can run better with a power game, rather than a speedy game.
And we’ve got Beanie Wells.
But then again, rain played a big factor in the 2006 game, and the biggest play of that game won a Heisman….
And while that day was spent mostly with the ground game, the big game-breaker was through the air.
Come to think of it, Ohio State scored three TDs through the air that day. Troy Smith threw one TD to a Buckeye, and Anthony Morelli threw two TDs to Buckeye players. LOL.
