Big plays in the big game

By now, Michigan has GOT to be tired of seeing Beanie Wells run for huge TDs.  How many of those does he have now?

I started thinking about that exact stat today, so I did a little research.  It might surprise you, might not, but Ohio State’s proficiency for getting huge plays in The Game has been amazing.  Check this out….

Since Beanie Wells’ arrived at Ohio State, there have been 24 plays that went for 20+ yards in The Game.  Beanie has the two longest plays, and four of the top 8;

Also interesting to note….Ohio State has all of the top 10, and Michigan had NO plays of 20 or more yards in 2007, and only 3 this season.

Does this stat mean anything?  Sure it does.  It means a 3-0 record, total dominance, an ability to gash your biggest rivals’ defense, and above all, it means the ability to run up an average score of 32.7 to 16.3.  Doubling up your opponent over a three-year span is damn impressive, and it’s due in no small part to the big plays by Beanie and Company.
