This may be a first for the UConn Huskies football program. A player and a coach talking about leaving early for the NFL.
During yesterday’s Big East coaches conference call, head coach Randy Edsall talked about the possibility of running back Donald Brown leaving early and making himself eligible for the 2009 NFL Draft.
“As a coach, it’s my responsibility to sit down with him and take a look and see where he might be projected,” Edsall said Monday. “I don’t think Donald wants to leave, but the opportunity is there.”
Edsall and Brown will sit down after the season is over to discuss whether or not he should declare for the NFL Draft. They will evaluate all of the information given to them including his potential draft position before making a decision.
I think for Brown it’s all going to depend on his projected draft status as well as what other running backs will be in the draft as well. I’d hate to see Brown go but he has to do what is best for him and his family.
Editor’s note: I didn’t want this to get buried in the morning UConn roundup.
