The big news yesterday for the UConn Huskies was that Donald Brown was named a second team AP All-American. It’s the first time in the Huskies FBS era that a player has been named to the AP team. Someone who helped Brown get those yards, Moe Petrus, was also honored as he was named to the Sporting News All-Freshman college football team.

Here are some reasons to attend the International Bowl on January 3, 2009.

The UConn women are in Cancun and John Altavilla of the Hartford Courant let’s us know he got there okay. He also gives a brief of Mel Thomas’ book.

The UConn men’s team helped out at the annual Jim Calhoun Food Drive in Hartford yesterday.

Jim Calhoun had given his team the day off yesterday but he wasn’t particularly happy with the performance on Monday night which meant they practiced yesterday.

Hasheem Thabeet, Jeff Adrien and Kemba Walker missed most or all of the practice yesterday.

Jim Calhoun wants to see his defense tighten up.
