Some Saturday Linkage For You

It’s time to provide Saturday linkage as we get ready to head for the first complete workweek of 2009 (trying to hold off as long as I can) and as I ponder what I’m going to post for the Videos of the Week (most likely a web series, but more on that Sunday). Anyway, let’s do the links for Saturday.

Starting with the San Antonio Express-News, Chad Peters talks with the NFL Network’s Marshall Faulk who’s in town for the All-American Bowl.

The Dallas Morning News’ Barry Horn writes that the NFL will miss the Cowboys and the Patriots not being in the playoffs this year. In his blog, Barry picks up comments from Troy Aikman on the Cowboys. And Barry credits viewers who stayed away from the insignificant Orange Bowl game on Thursday.

For those of you who watched MLB’s Network presentation of Don Larsen’s perfect game on New Year’s Day, you really don’t know the half of Don’s odyssey to his Idaho home following the taping of his interview with Bob Costas and Yogi Berra. Jack Curry of the New York Times has the story.

Newsday’s Neil Best wondered by MLB Network chose Evan Longoria as #3 for its 30 second countdown to its New Year’s Day launch. And Neil finds one oddity in the MLB Network presentation of Don Larsen’s perfect game.

Jim Gintonio of the Arizona Republic talks with the always lovely Linda Cohn of ESPN.

The Sports Media Watch says CBS’ ratings were down for the NFL in 2008. The SMW notes that the Rose Bowl on ABC outrated the Orange Bowl on Fox.

That’s it for now. If I find more links, I’ll post them.
