According to a report on SoxProspects.com, third base prospect Will Middlebrooks suffered a torn hamstring during drills this past weekend and will be out until May, or possibly longer. Will was projected to start at Class-A Greenville where he’d split time between third base and DH with fellow top prospect Michael Almanzar.
Will reported to camp looking to be in outstanding shape after working out in the Red Sox strength and conditioning program in the off-season. He was/is a strong candidate to have a breakout season after ending the 2008 season on such a positive note by improving his pitch recognition. Expect him to return to Greenville in early May.
