Quickie Thursday Post

I’m on the road doing this from a McDonald’s that has wireless and my battery doesn’t have much power so I’ll do a few posts here and when I can sit down with AC/DC power, I’ll give you a more extensive update.

By the way, thanks to Ed Berliner for having me on as a guest as he was subbing for Sid Rosenberg on 790 The Ticket in Miami. It was a good experience and hopefully if he sits in for Sid again, we can do it anew.

We’ll start with CNBC’s Darren Rovell who has a good post today on a little known fact that the NCAA can opt out of its contract with CBS for the NCAA Tournament this year. Darren writes that the troubled financial firm Stanford Financial is quickly fading from the sports world

The lovely Jessica Heslam of the Boston Herald reports that the rival Boston Globe has laid off 32 employees, mostly in the classified telephone sales department.

Newsday’s Neil Best finds someone other than me who doesn’t like Max Kellerman. Neil says New York’s football and baseball teams are still selling high priced tickets in this shaky economy.

Ray Frager of the Baltimore Sun takes us inside the news meeting at the paper.

Tim Lemke of the Washington Times is melancholy over the The Spectrum’s final days in Philly.

Barry Horn of the Dallas Morning News celebrates six months as a blogger. Get to two years like me (in two months) and we’ll talk. LOL. Barry says sources are telling him that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would prefer having NBC’s announcing crew call his team’s opener at his new stadium instead of ESPN’s.

Ok, my battery is running down so I have to end this. Back later.
