Evan Longoria is being handed the American League MVP award courtesy of the Boston Red Sox pitching staff.
Longoria belted a two-run homer (11) in the first inning, barely missed another home run in the fifth driving in two runs on a double deep off the Monster and knocked in his fifth RBI in the seventh on a sacrifice fly to center.
In total, Longoria drove home five runs pushing his major league-leading total to 44 on the season.
Goat of the Game – Jon Lester
Four and one-third innings pitched, 10 hits, eight runs, one walk and six strikeouts. Need I say more.
Next Game – 5/10 vs. Tampa Bay Rays – Matt Garza/Josh Beckett
Beckett could sway some nay-sayers with a timely win against Tampa Bay.
