Jim Calhoun Is a Tough SOB

How many 67-year old people do you know that can ride 38 miles after breaking 5 ribs?

In the fall, he suffered some scrapes and five broken ribs. He continued to finish up the 50 mile event after having his bike repaired and cuts and scrapes treated.

At the end of the event, Calhoun collapsed and was treated for dehydration as a result of the injuries he suffered. It turned out he had finished the race with 5 broken ribs suffered in the fall.

Calhoun was taken to the UConn Health Center and was held overnight for observations. He was said to be in great health despite the five broken ribs and was to be released from the hospital today.

“He’s so stubborn, so stubborn,” Ray Allen said. “He doesn’t want people to help him out. He’s always been the type who feels he’s invincible. I think we’ve all been there. We’ve all been like that. But as we’ve gotten older, we have to kind of relish what our past was, but we’ve got to adjust accordingly in our lives and know when we’ve done enough.”
