It’s not as dirty as it sounds
The Colts’ defense is playing better than the statistics indicate. It has allowed just 62 points, but 14 of those points came in garbage time against the Seahawks. The Dolphins gouged the Colts for 239 rushing yards in a loss, but other opponents have gained just 197 yards on 57 carries (3.46 yards a carry) in three games. Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis have a habit of pirouetting around blockers instead of tackling ball carriers, but they have already combined for 10 sacks and are doing their part on run defense. The Colts’ offense is operating at peak capacity, and with their defense exceeding expectations, the Colts are currently the best team in the N.F.L.
