WHEN THE COLTS WIN …

A 9-0 Colts record means the Patriots drop to 6-3 and basically assures, should the two teams meet in January, it will be in Indy at Lucas Oil Stadium. This is a big deal, given the Colts’ misfortunes in two playoff losses at Gillette Stadium, aka “The Razor,” in the cold and possible snow. I’m not as sold as some about how this team can’t win in cold weather, and personally think a Colts victory at New England in January would mean more than any other game, except the Super Bowl. But sticking to the point, this is a golden opportunity for the Colts to put down their rivals and send a message to the rest of the league that the road to an AFC championship will go through Indy. These kind of chances don’t come around often. You have to seize them when they do. The Patriots did in 2007 when they rallied from 10 points down with less than 10 minutes remaining to knock off the Colts in a clash of unbeatens at the RCA Dome. When the Patriots won here in 2003 with a goal-line stand, it forced the Colts to have to venture to New England in January for an eventual AFC title game loss. Again, the Patriots earned the home game and make it work for them. The Colts, if they play exceptionally well, can do the same.
