Sun Sports/FOX Sports Florida’s Production and Members of the Miami HEAT’s TV Production Team Recognized for Programming/Production Excellence


ORLANDO (Dec. 7, 2009) – The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) recognized Sun Sports/FOX Sports Florida and the Miami HEAT for programming and production excellence by awarding the networksand team’s broadcasting divisions seven 2009 regional Emmy Awards. Florida’s Fox-owned and managed sports networks and the HEAT won awards for their commitment to quality programming/production during the 2009 Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards ceremony on Saturday, December 5, 2009.


“This is a tremendous honor” said Ned Tate, Sun Sports & FOX Sports Florida executive producer. “We congratulate all the hard-working and talented production staff at both Sun Sports/FOX Sports Florida and the Miami HEAT for this outstanding accomplishment.”


The Suncoast Chapter of NATAS offers annual Emmy Awards in the SE region including the entire State of Florida, most of the State of Louisiana, areas of Alabama and Georgia and Puerto Rico.

The 12th-ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeated the No. 25 Clemson Tigers, 39-34, in the Dr. Pepper ACC Championship Game Saturday night in Tampa, earning an . ACC All Access has highlights from the championship and previews the seven ACC bowl games, including:

Then ACC All Access takes a look at a pair of North Carolina national championships. The women’s soccer team won their 21st National Championship on Sunday, defeating Stanford 1-0 to win the Women’s College Cup. And the Tar Heels’ field hockey team won the program’s sixth National Championship by defeating ACC rival Maryland, 3-2, thanks to Danielle Forward’s game winning goal with 11.7 seconds left in the game.

And ACC All Access reviews three fall championships: The 2009 ACC Cross Country Championships, where NC State took home the men’s title and Florida State won the women’s crown;
and the Men’s Soccer Championship, at which the Virginia men’s soccer team recorded its eighth consecutive shutout, beating NC State, 1-0.

Six-time NBA All-Star, Jermaine O’Neal, has brought an immediate big man presence to the Miami HEAT since he was traded in February of 2009. Standing almost 7 foot tall, O’Neal is skilled on both ends of the floor. Playing injured for the past two seasons, Jermaine made a commitment to rejuvenate his body. “Inside the HEAT” gives fans a glimpse into his summer workouts.

Jermaine was a late bloomer, only beginning to play basketball in high school. “Inside the HEAT” takes viewers back to his hometown in Columbia, South Carolina, where Jermaine grew up. Jermaine was an immediate high school stand out and was drafted into the NBA out of high school, becoming the youngest player to enter the NBA. Drafted to the Portland Trail Blazers and then playing for the Pacers and Raptors before coming to the HEAT. In a candid and descriptive interview, Jermaine tells his story to “Inside the HEAT,” giving Sun Sports’ viewers insight into both the
player and the man.

Finally, Fox Sports Florida and Sun Sports will air all of the state high school football championship games over the next two weekends.

ORLANDO - For the 10th consecutive year, Sun Sports/FOX Sports Florida
will take its award-winning production team to the site of the state
football finals this weekend and next and provide viewers statewide with
coverage of all eight games -- 24 hours of live game coverage airing on
Sun Sports and/or FOX Sports Florida from the Citrus Bowl Stadium in
Orlando.

Calling the action are Whit Watson (play-by-play), Brady Ackerman
(analyst) and Jessica Blaylock (sideline reporter). Fans can also follow

Underscoring the regional cable networks' focus on local programming and
community-based events, the networks' production team will focus on the
hometown athletes, telling their stories and giving fans statewide a
