Earlier we talked about how Ohio State would be missing WR Duron Carter for the Rose Bowl, presumably because of grades. At that time, Rob Rose was cleared to play.
Now word is that both Rose and constant Tressel Doghouse resident Ray Small will not be a part of the Ohio State team performing in Pasadena. Joining this merry band at home in front of the TV will be former walk on Bo DeLand. As always, the staff of the Columbus Dispatch are on top of this, and have indicated that the violation is one of “team rules”.
This will mean that both Small and Rose have played their final games for the scarlet and gray; with Small being named captain for the victory over Mich1gAAn. It wasn’t long ago that we were celebrating another milestone for these young men from Glenville; now, they will not get the “on the field” sendoff they deserve.
While some people may be thankful that the “Ray Small Experiment” has drawn to a close, I hope that many Buckeye faithful will join me in wishing both he and Rob well in their future endeavors. While their on the field careers may not have panned out as we the fans wished, their willingness to give a good portion of their lives to be a part of this team at whatever level is worth our gratitude.
IF (please note that word) there are other issues surrounding them that will keep them from being sucessful in the long run, we pray that they find the support, challenge, and encouragement necessary to overcome them.
With that, I’ll leave you with highlights from Ray’s most meaningful game of the year. I believe that without his efforts we are not successful in Happy Valley.
And yes, I’d much rather they were out shooting each other with pellet guns.
